Do you offer child seats?

Yes, they are only $30 per hire. Just request one when you make a booking.

Is smoking permitted in the vehicle?

Mint operates on a strict non-smoking policy in all of our vehicles. We will enforce a special cleaning charge of up to $75 to the renter if a returned vehicle requires special treatment to remove any evidence of smoking.

Who is responsible for parking fines / traffic offenses?

The hirer of the vehicle is solely responsible for any traffic offence fines incurred during their rental period. If the fine comes to Mint Rentals we will charge an administration fee of between $10 - $25.

What if I return my rental vehicle late?

Mint provides all customers an hour grace period from the time the vehicle was due to be dropped off as shown in your rental agreement. Charges will be incurred if you return after that hour grace period.

Do I have to pay a deposit at the time of booking?

No, we do not charge a deposit when you make a booking with Mint Rentals. A credit card or debit card is required at the time of booking. Full payment for the rental is charged on the day of pickup.

Do I have to pay a bond?

Yes, we require a bank pre-authorisation of up to $750 from the hirer’s credit or debit card. Unfortunately, We do not accept cash bonds.

What is your cancellation policy?

If the cancellation is received 3 days before the pickup date no Cancellation Fee is applicable. Mint Rentals can charge 50% of the rental fee in the event that cancellation is received less than 3 days before the pickup (the Cancellation Fee). If the Hirer cancels during the term of hire, no refund will be provided for the unused portion of the term.

Any restrictions on kilometres? Can I drive as much as I want?

We have unlimited kilometres with all our vehicles but travel is restricted to the North Island only. No south island travel is permitted in our cars. 

What currency are your prices in?

All our prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).

How and when should I make my booking?

We always suggest that as soon as you know the dates you wish to travel you should go online and book. The best way to book is via our secure server booking page. Or if preferred, just give us a call. You will need a credit or debit card either way.

Do you provide a driver?

No. All of our vehicles self-driver. You will need to be the driver.

What is the minimum driver age?

Mint Rentals hires to anyone 20 years or older. All you need is a valid full driver’s licence.

Can I add an additional driver?

Yes you can. We do not charge for additional drivers.

What hours are you open?

Our depot is open between the hours of 9am - 4.30pm 7 days a week. Outside of these hours we use a partner company for pickups and drop-offs. Please contact us for more information.

Can I pickup a car after hours?

Yes. You can pick up and drop off car 24 hours a day. Outside of our regular office hours, we use a partner company to provide this service. They can pick you up and drop you off at the airport. This costs an additional $50.

Can I take my car on the Ferry?

No. Travel in our cars is restricted to the North Island only. No south island travel is permitted in our cars. Customers will be in breach of contract if travel to the South Island occurs.

Can I hire if I have a Provisional Licence?

No you must have a full licence to hire from Mint Rentals.

How are you different to other vehicle rental companies?

We try to be smarter and more flexible.

Most other rental companies use legacy technology that suits them, but makes your rental process take way too long. 

We don’t try to win you round with whistles and bells. Our cars have miles on the clock, but they’re safe, reliable, clean and carefully maintained.

Can I hire a car for just one day?

Yes. It’s a great idea if you’re in Auckland for business and want to save money and enjoy more flexibility.

Do you pickup from the airport?

Yes.
